The Thoroton Society
 is the county’s principal historical and archaeological society. It is named in honour of Dr Robert Thoroton who published the first history of Nottinghamshire in 1677. The Society’s aims are simple: to promote knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the history, archaeology and antiquities of Nottinghamshire, and to support local research and conservation.

Papplewick Parish Web Site
The website contains a sizable historic archive. It also includes information on the Moor Pond Woods project which as one of its aims is to provide interpretation on the system of 18th century water management associated with the Leen Mills.

Woodborough Heritage
This is the official website for the Woodborough Photographic Recording Group. The website contains a vast and varied historical account of the village and its people since Domesday. The Group has over 3,600 digitally stored photos in its database, these date from the year 1862 onwards, and since year 2000, digital photography onwards.

Sherwood Archaeology Society
